THE PRODIGAL DAUGHTER!

I know the story of two sisters, Clara the youngest and Chidinma, you can call them family friends. Their mom is late but dad was always present in their lives till date. Their dad is wealthy, he is from Anambara State and virtually owned many businesses in the State just like Dangote runs the African market.

Clara and Chidinma attended the best Schools abroad and made their dad proud. Now the girls are back in Nigeria, dad is summoned by Clara the youngest daughter, she asked her dad to give her a couple of billions so she could go back to America and start a business of her own and the dad agreed without complaining. Chidinma stayed back in Nigeria to help her dad in one of the haulage companies.

Clara got to America hopeful and ready for the American market. She had a brilliant business idea that she never told anyone except her boyfriend way back in College. She moved in with this young man hoping for a brighter future. Clara began to work hard and made huge amount of money in America. She became a force to reckon with in the American market.

This was where her troubles began, One day Clara came home after a long day at the office only to be accused by her boyfriend of infidelity. She was so confused but denied it. Her boyfriend had no prove of Clara’s infidelity but was just jealous because she was making all the money for them. She became depressed and in the bid to impress her boyfriend, he became a thorn in the flesh and began to introduce her into drugs which then made her very distant from her family. Clara bought a Ferrari for her boyfriend, they partied all nights in different clubs, used all types of drugs and Clara always took the fall and several times ended up in jail. She had three abortions for him and things became worse than she could imagine. She lost her business and trying to get back on her feet, she was persuaded by her boyfriend to move some amount of cocaine from one State to another but got caught. She was in prison for 3years and released based on good behavior. Clara was then rejected by her boyfriend who started dating someone else.

She had no place to stay and began to feed on leftovers from garbage’s on the streets but one day got deported to Nigeria by the American government, then she begged her dad to employ her as a cleaner in one of his companies for her stupidity but her dad hugged her like a princess even in torn clothes. She was amazed at her dads reaction. All her dad said was my daughter was lost but she is found, so let’s make merry. Afterwards Chidinma got back home that evening to see a party in the house and was told the party was on behalf of her sister who left with so much money to America but came back broke in torn clothes. Chidinma became furious and secluded herself from the party in disgust claiming their father never praised her for being diligent in the affairs of the company she was running for him. All the father said was “my daughter was lost but now she is back!”

This story is quite simple, God’s thoughts are better than that of Clara’s father. Seek God and gain Eternal Life.

WHAT IS HER NAME?

I met lady in a bus and i had to write about her. It was fun meeting her in a bus from Uyo to Lagos. I did not ask her what her name was after I alighted from the bus and hurriedly got her phone number. She is weird just like me and we got along very well even though most times I was picking on her.

Now this is the story, on the 15th of December 2015 in the famous bus park in Uyo popularly known as Itam AKTC park. I was with my homeboy Ike who was coming to Lagos with me to spend the holidays. We got to the park late obviously by 7:15am because Ike was just too lazy to get up after having many bottles the night before but he claimed he had a little alcohol. We eventually got our bus tickets which Ike paid for based on his generosity. We got on a bus we believed was the 3rd bus going to Lagos but we were disappointed and transferred to another bus. Then again, confusion set in and we were again transferred to another bus. Throughout this time I noticed a fair girl looking gloomy, she wore a top and a floral skirt I didn’t really notice, she is average height and what got my attention was her straight legs with hairs on it. We finally settled in the bus and she still had her gloomy face up which I knew she basically used to scare off any male toaster.

In the sitting arrangement, Ike was directly in front of me while this fair girl was behind me. We ended up having 7 passengers on board, making it 2 passengers to the seats. I immediately asked her to relax her face and enjoy the ride to Lagos, and she smiled. Her smile captured me and I was so sure for a while what kind of girl she was. Later on the trip, I asked her to help me make the trip worthwhile for us but she turned me down but later agreed after so much pleading. All I needed was company, someone to gist with and make the journey quicker than expected. At various points I let her crash and whenever she woke up, she would call my attention. I was already getting to know her because she was down to earth and was so friendly unlike the face she put up before coming on board the bus. I virtually turned back to look at her while we talked and sometimes did that also when she was asleep. I loved to watch her sleep and I knew she did not love it. She decided to sleep on the empty seat behind after complaining about the guy who sat beside her HAD A TERRIBLE MOUTH ODOUR. I will not tell you what transpired thereafter, lol. We both had moments where we just stared at each other without saying a word. Trust me this is not a love story, through the journey we had fights and a lot of off-points where she would come at me angry at me but I never stopped getting on her nerves for reasons I could not even understand myself. Ike on the other end was busy having fun with an older lady whom I notice was very single and flirting with him. Finally, we got off the bus in Asaba for the usual 25minutes break half-way into the journey. We alighted by 1:25pm to eat and I ended up with my muse having my lunch. She turned down my offer to buy her food and preferred to watch me eat. I was done with my food and we were walking back to the bus when she requested to eat suya and some fruits, guava to be precise. We got back on the bus and shared in her suya. I also did not refuse a guava she offered to me and then it begun to start, my stomach began to ache me and the driver was in no condition to stop the bus for me to ease myself, so I decided to bear the pain till I got home. She made fun of me when I told her but later was checking up on me to know how I was feeling. I tried to take away my mind from the stomach ache and pay rapt attention to her gist, I think I did my best in my condition even though unknowingly she was helpful.

Finally, Ike and I alighted at the popular Berger Bus Stop by 6:05pm after a grand reception from the three statues clothed in Eyo festival attire into Lagos state. I was in a hurry to get her number she earlier did not want to give me but she eventually gave me. I waved her farewell and did not realize I did not know her name. Ike and I got on a taxi taking us home and the journey was extremely terrible with the never unending traffic situation that Lagos State cannot find a solution to like that of New-York city in the United States of America hosting the most populated people in America. After finding our way through the traffic, we got the my street by 8:10pm. My mum received us warmly with a big smile and a lots of food that night which I consumed just after I had to release the suya in my stomach. After a little while just when I was about to sleep I told my mum about the fair girl I met in the bus, she listened with rapt attention and asked few questions about her in curiosity. Thereafter, I took my cell phone and dialed me ladies number, we spoke a little and before hanging up, I asked and she told me her name was Rosetta.

COVER UP, NO EXCUSE!

Dress to cover.

One of the ladies who was seated with her on the platform narrated this story. Mohammed Ali and his daughters Hannah and Laila. By the way Mohammed Ali is a muslim. The two daughters dressed up in skimpy dresses. Laila relived or recapitulated the event. She vowed never to forget what their father looked her in the eyes while she sat on his lap and said to her. Not quoted exactly though. The most important things in life are always covered and hidden and very hard to find. You will need to dig very deep and far to get them. Gold is hidden far inside the earth’s crust below layers upon layers of hard rocks. Pearls are hidden inside shells which are found in deep sea waters. Diamonds are also hidden far under the earth crust too.

The following two items may not have been mentioned by her along with others in the list above: platinum and crude oil(black gold), these are two others that are worth mentioning above also. Mohammed Ali further articulated clearly the morals of the lesson.

That the daughters must dress to cover themselves up properly because they have something that their future suitors/husbands must work very hard to get.. Ofcourse what else would that most important treasure be except their virginity, which should be their most prized possession. It is the womans pride and whole person.

These are my personal thoughts: In Genesis chapter 3, chapter 2:9,16-17: In the beginning God designed man in the creation to the extent that if not for disobedience of man to God’s command not to eat the fruits from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, today men and women would have been going about their daily businesses without any clue of their physical nakedness. The word “naked” wouldn’t have been introduced to the lexicon of mankind. Going about naked would have been very normal, not at all seen as anything was wrong. The psychology of feeling naked wouldn’t have been too.

Unfortunately when mankind(Adam and Eve) realized they were naked and that was as a result of consuming the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, resorted to self help fashions. They sewed fig leaves together ( what an irony, for this was foolishness as the durability and ruggedness of leaves obviously cannot be guaranteed) to cover our nakedness in an attempt to exemplify knowledge. God in his characteristical love and wisdom towards mankind made something better for them to cover their nakedness. Aprons and leather materials made from the sacrificial killing of animals- animal skins. Clearly God is in interested in in what and how we dress up.

– God expects us to cover our nakedness properly(not sheer or see through)

– and also prevent accidental exposure(that mankind must not dress up with leaves or paper or transparent materials. Fragile materials can easily get torn.

-provide warmth and other cares for the human body (which leaves wouldn’t have been able to provide).

-provide comfort (the skin/leather clothings God made – God is the ultimate tailor/fashion designer – for Adam and Eve must have been sewn to size and fitness as adequate and proper.

-provide asthetics. God is the lover of all stimulating stones, paints, animals and other colours, and so on. He must have chosen some colourful skin and leather for Adam and Eve’s maiden fashion.

-the cut and design must have been different fashion for Adam and Eve because of Deut22:5.

Look at these pertinent questions.

-Do Christian men and women today dress properly to the honour and glory of God and their master Jesus Christ?

-Today, all over the world who are those complaining most against indecent dressing and exposure? Is it Christians or people of other religions? Refer to what the master said in Luke 16:8, “And the lord(not God) commended the unjust steward because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” The emphasis is mine for better understanding of who the “lord” was. Look around you and particularly on Sunday morning, are the children of light wiser? Many adherents of other religions are fighting and showing great distaste and disagreement about the dress culture of many Christian people and countries, most especially “God’s own country” United States of America, the western world. Grammy a world acclaimed musical award organization in America recently issued an email to their invited performing artiste to keep their clothes on and cover their buttocks, breasts, and their sex organs. They must have done that out of concern because the wicked record of Sodom and Gormorrah was totally shattered ages ago. A clear case of freedom without responsibilities – anarchy.

America remains one of thr most powerful opinions in the comity of nations in almost all facets of human lifr today, especially in the area of dressing and fashion. They are wielding the most negative influence on the rest of the people of the world whereas they are supposed to be looked up to as the world’s leaders. If America reforms there is the hope that the rest of the world can reform too. CBS the broadcasters of the 55th Grammy’s awards scheduled for 10 february, 2013 issued a dress code banning breasts, buttocks, genitals exposure – ban of obscene exposure at the grammys. The dressing of some of the female folks especially how disgusting, repulsive, productive, sickening, horrible, indecent, embarrassing, vulgar, perverting, demising, immoral, scandalous and so on. Serve the very worst of adjectives. Let me quote the connect made by George feb,2013. “This is why the Muslims and other countries hate us. They believe we are the great satan, and we are polluting the world with smut, filth and greed.”

Amodeus:

“fact is there’d be no need for female celebrity to demeaning themselves by dressing in such a manner if any of them were actually talented or had an ounce of self-worth”

1 Tim 2:9-10

1 Peter 3: 3-6

The dressing of an average traditional religious Jewish woman and that of a moslem; with the vail and shawd are very similar. Islam is known to be an offshoot of Judiasm, hence the physical similarity in appearance in dressing. So it wasn’t the moslem women that introduced at inception the covering with the “Hijabi”. They are merely carrying on with the age old tradition of Sarah, wives of the Patriachs, and the women of the early new testament church. Unfortunately, there is so much pervasion in the churches and in the western world today with respect to dressing. Generally men and women are encouraged to be socially responsible in their dressing to sustain the dignity of humanity. However Christian church men and women should be reminded of their greater responsibility in the expectation of the faith for the following reasons:

-The righteousness of the faithful is expected by the Master Jesus, to exceed that of the Pharisees. Otherwise any infraction that degrades the faith may cause the individual the loss of the Kingdom of God.

-At the second advent of Christ judgment shall begin first in the Church with the people of God before those outside the Church.

-The people of God are enjoined to be moderate and self disciplined in all things.

-The best you can be or gain in a rat race is becoming a big rat; which may be loaded with the fatal lasser fever virus. Let us keep our packaging to glory. God Jehova; being created in the image and likeness of the Most High God and not that rat.
